Les Cures Marines and seawater, a history that goes back decades. Since the 1950s, thalassotherapy has been known and recognised for its medical benefits. Les Cures Marines mainly welcomed people taking the water on medical prescription, following the principles of physical and balneotherapy. The establishment was also open to a wider clientele looking for occasional treatments. At the time it was established, this type of centre was still relatively rare. The road to modern thalassotherapy as a concept combining health and leisure was not paved until 1964.
"Les Cures Marines", as a health resort, had a wonderful history until 1990. As thalassotherapy treatments were no longer covered by the French Social Security system, there was a drop in visitor numbers, leading to the closure of the establishment.
