In this audio journey, we enter the world of Cures Marines Hotel & Spa Trouville MGallery Collection. Located on the flowery coast of Normandy, the historic Cures Marines offers a luxury step into the historic past of the French seaside resort village.
Year after year, Trouville-sur-Mer grew to be an essential holiday destination. There was an abundance of culture, festivals, shows and games. As the resort's popularity grew exponentially with an ever-increasing number of visitors, a new leisure facility had to be built! A facility that was up to the challenge, that could satisfy the most discerning customers, that gave the city the standing it aspired to. Designed by architect Alexandre Durville and built in 1912, the building was intended to be the largest and most beautiful casino in France, subtly combining the benefits of water with the pleasures of gambling.
Les Cures Marines and seawater, a history that goes back decades. Since the 1950s, thalassotherapy has been known and recognised for its medical benefits. Les Cures Marines mainly welcomed people taking the water on medical prescription, following the principles of physical and balneotherapy. The establishment was also open to a wider clientele looking for occasional treatments. At the time it was established, this type of centre was still relatively rare. The road to modern thalassotherapy as a concept combining health and leisure was not paved until 1964.
A hundred years on, Les Cures Marines is now soaring to reclaim its place in the world, as if seeking retribution against the passage of time. The project enjoyed a perfect alignment, leveraging co-financing, support from public authorities, and the enthusiastic involvement of the Accor group. This sleeping beauty has now woken up and regained its magical aura thanks to a subtle, elegant transformation carried out by architect and designer Jean Philippe Nuel. Charm dominates. Emotion returns. It's as if the fashion for seaside resorts is making a comeback. This wing of the building had never been used as a hotel before, so four floors had to be created from scratch to accommodate the 103 rooms, bar, restaurant, seminar rooms and 2,500m² marine spa.
